Ailem Güvende
Android version in the works

Know your family is safe after an earthquake, in one tap.

When networks collapse, calls rarely get through. Ailem Güvende ("My Family Is Safe") sends everyone's "I'm OK" or "I need help" in a message shorter than a single SMS.

Android first, then iOS. The app does not replace official alerts or emergency number 112. The app interface is in Turkish at launch.

How it works

One minute to set up, one tap to use.

Nobody fills in forms during a disaster. Everything is prepared in advance, so in the moment there is only one button to press.

Step 1

Create your family group

Sign up with your phone number, create a group and add family members with a single-use invite code.

Step 2

The earthquake is detected

AFAD, Kandilli and EMSC feeds are monitored continuously. If many phones in the same area sense shaking, the alert starts without waiting for official data.

Step 3

Report with one tap

Press "I'm OK" or "I need help" right on the notification. No need to open the app; without internet the message is queued.

Step 4

Follow the family board

See who is safe, who needs help and who has not replied yet on one screen. Reminders go out automatically to those who have not answered.

Low-data messaging

The message finds a way, even on a struggling network.

A status message is about 30 characters long. If one channel fails, the next one is tried. Messages are signed, so they cannot be altered on the way.

Mobile data

A few bytes are enough even on a weak connection. The phone keeps retrying in the background until the message is delivered.

At launch

Push and SMS fallback

If a push notification does not reach a family member, the server also sends the status request by SMS. Replies by SMS reach the board too.

At launch

Nearby phones

When there is neither data nor SMS, relaying the message over Bluetooth through nearby phones is planned.

FAQ

Common questions

Does it work without internet?

The message is queued on the phone and sent as soon as a connection is available. For family members who do not receive the push notification, the server also sends the request by SMS. Relaying through nearby phones is planned for situations with no connectivity at all.

Where does earthquake data come from?

AFAD, Kandilli Observatory and EMSC are monitored, and the alert starts as soon as any of them reports. If enough phones in the same area sense shaking within a short time, official data is not awaited.

Does the app replace official earthquake warnings?

No. Ailem Güvende is designed for staying in touch with your family after an earthquake. It is not an early warning system. In an emergency, call 112 and follow the instructions of official authorities.

Who can see my location?

Only members of the family group you choose, and only with your permission. "Always share" and "Reveal in a disaster" are separate settings that you can turn off at any time.

Which phones will it support?

The first version is being prepared for Android 8.0 and later. An iOS version will follow.

What if a family member lives in another city?

Status requests go only to family members in the affected area. Members outside it receive a one-time "your relative is in the affected area" notice; no reply is expected from them and they are never marked "no reply". Wherever you are, you can follow your relative's status on the family board.
